Product Description Hours of fascination are ahead as a child maneuvers the beads from one side of the wood frame, through the loop-d-loop to the other. The 5 differently painted heavy-duty wires teach eye-hand coordination. No loose parts. Ages 3-6 yrs. 15W x 23"H. Sorry, no gift wrap or Express Delivery. PARENTS CHOICE AWARD WINNER"
Editorial Review This Parents' Choice Classic Award Winner is that colossal maze of wood, beads, and wire often seen at the doctor's office. Beautifully crafted with a 12-by-15-inch solid wood base, thick sturdy wire, and wood beads, this winding wonder keeps little hands and minds busy for hours. The structure consists of five intertwined wires, securely attached at the wood base, adorned with free sliding beads of varied color, shape, size, and pattern. One wire reaches 21 inches at its peak, another makes a complete 360 degree loop. As the child slides beads across the tangle of wires, fine motor coordination and critical thinking skills are developed, as well as an understanding of both spatial relations and depth perception. The Original Rollercoaster washes easily with a damp sponge and squares up neatly in a corner for storage. --Kathryn Gustafson

A fantastic learning toy! July 13, 1999 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
My daughter first played with the rollercoaster at her pediatrician's office. It is one of the few toys that she never gets tired of. By moving the beads from one end of the colored wires to the other it helps to build the child's hand to eye coordination. It is also a great way for your child to learn different colors, shapes and sizes. As the child gets older it will also be a great toy to teach him/her math and problem solving. The rollercoaster is definitely one of the best developmental toys available today. I highly recommend it.
Excellent toy, develops hand-eye coordination & motor skills August 4, 1999 33 out of 35 found this review helpful
This toy is captivating. It keeps my child interested for hours. There are so many different ways to play with the beads and wires. It has been a good way to interact one on one with my child. We both like to play with it. It is also very sturdy; my child has stepped on it, tipped it over, tried bending wires, and it still looks good as new.
My child's favorite... March 27, 2000 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I got this for my son when he was only 7 months old.. and even then, he was mesmerized by the colorful pieces (beads)and the way they moved on the wires. He is a year now and still, it is his favorite toy. He will sit and tediously move one piece through the maze of wire and then back again. I believe it has shown him patience and determination.. because he often has to start over to get the pieces where he wants them... This was, by far, the best gift he's even received.
what took me so long? August 6, 2001 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have eyed this toy in our doctors' office since my baby was 3 months old. I had waited to get this toy for her 1 year birthday, partly because I was concerned it was too advanced, and partly because it is more of an "investment" toy than the typical ... plastic toy. Now, I regret waiting so long to get her this toy. Not only does she LOVE playing with this toy but it is evident that she is learning new concepts every second she plays with it. Our daughter can not stand on her own, but the toy is stable enough for her to stand and lean on it by grasping one wire and playing with the others. Also, it is a good "sitting" toy. I would recommend getting this toy as soon as they can sit by themselves. This is good for independant play, as well as, parent/child interactions. Our daughter has gone from swatting at the beads, to meticulously moving each bead along the wires. She likes the different shapes, and I can't wait to teach her colors and numbers with the beads. It is well worth the money. Not only is it well-built and beautifully crafted, but new skills can be learned with this toy as the child develops throughout the years.
A fun toy with one drawback November 5, 2001 Linda M. Jones (Harvard, MA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My kids have loved this toy for years. The only defect is that when little kids repeatedly lean on the wires, they become loose at the base and list. Then when moving beads around wires impede the flow of beads across other wires. If there was a way they could fix this feature the toy would be ideal. Despite the dificulty my kids still use it alot.
