Product Description Make learning the ABC's easier with this wooden puzzle. Place each piece of the alphabet on the puzzle board, and when a match is made, your child will hear the sound of each letter and a word beginning with that letter. It's a fun and unique way to reinforce cause-and-effect, and early vocabulary and matching skills.

Great Learning Tool November 3, 2008 D. Chapman (Kyle, TX) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this puzzle for my nephew who just turned 3. I had previously bought one for my 1 year old daughter. She loves it so much and has actually learned her letters from this puzzle and that is why I bought one for her cousin. It is a great puzzle. Some of the pictures behind the letter are an odd choice for little kids, but they don't care. And if you have dogs, be careful because they chew up easily due to the wood-type material they are made out of. Our "T" is all chewed up now, but still works. I love Melissa and Doug toys. My next purchase will be the "Numbers" puzzle because my daughter is now starting take interest in counting. Anyway, if you have a young child who is old enough to start learning the alphabet, this is a great puzzle!
Great Puzzle that really reinforces May 23, 2009 Jennifer Castaneda 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This puzzle definitely reinforces language development, just make sure to store it in a dark box as it is light sensored and will be quite noisey if not properly stored.
A great everyday dose of ABC's July 22, 2009 bonsaijen (CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 22 month old daughter loves puzzles and can put them together without any help.. and this is just great for a daily dose of ABC's.
Exactly what we were looking for April 6, 2010 E. Workman (Southern CA) I was worried about buying this puzzle after reading other reviews, but we are very happy with the purchase. True, the puzzle is not a PERFECT tool for learning the alphabet, but it is still a good way to become familiar with the letters. Most of the concerns shared in other reviews are based on the fact that the puzzle spaces are light sensitive, but we really didn't find this to be a problem. For example, if a piece is missing, every time we turn the light on or off, the puzzle announces "G is for Guitar" (or whatever piece is missing). That was easily fixable, though, by covering the puzzle so that the light wouldn't hit it (until we found the missing piece). Another concern shared in other reviews is that the spaces are not letter specific. For example, if you try putting the G in the space for the A, the piece will not fit, but the puzzle still announces "A is for Apple" since the light sensor is covered. So, this may cause some confusion. However, I just work with my daughter while she does the puzzle. If she tries to put the G in the space for the A, the puzzle says "A is for Apple". I tell her, "Oh, it looks like that piece doesn't fit there, and the puzzle is telling us we're looking for the A." Overall, this is a fun learning tool & works just fine.
Great for teaching ABCs, but Buggy June 14, 2007 HappyShopper (NY, NY) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I got this for my nephew to teach him his ABCs. He's learned his alphabet, and still plays with it several times a day. I'd give it 5 starts but unfortunately, it can make noise without being touched (I think you have to keep it on a flat surfact), and sometimes when you put the letters in it DOESN'T make the sound. Also, it does not have an on/off switch and you have to actually unscrew a plastic lid to remove the batteries (not included). Still, he loves it, so just keep it out of earshot at night.
