I got a train whistle just like this when I was 6 years old (I'm almost 18 now) and take it from me, these things are (were) really cool! The sound that it makes is very similar to a real train sound. It's quite durable too, and after 4 years of use and 7 years of neglect, it still makes the same noise as it did when I first got it.
So, if you're thinking about getting this for a little one that you know, you can rest assured that this toy is:
*Durable
*Cheap
*More fun than it might seem to be

My nephew loves this whiste. He's so into trains and he love to use this when he's running around the house pretending he's a conductor. It makes an amazing train sound that blends different tones together from the different sized holes in the whistle. Mega durable, don't even think he could break it if he tried. Great toy!!!

I have a friend who loves to play "Ticket to Ride", so as a sort of joke... I purchased this item as a gift for him. His eyes lit up when he opened it. The whistle sounded both beautiful and incredibly realistic. It arrived sealed and in great condition (exactly as described).

My son loves trains. He has a wooden whistle but it is really hard to get it to make noise. Even I can't get it to work. I bought this one and I am very happy. He can easily grasp it, easy for him to blow, and it makes one of his favorite noises in the world. There is a train on the front which he also likes. He likes to point at it and make the noise. Great toy.

The train whistle was purchased to remind a friend of a recent trip we had taken together. Trains began running thru the town at 4AM and blasting their whistles every 15 minutes until after 9AM....so the whistle was a funny reminder of that time! It was appreciated, caused a few laughs and will be enjoyed for years to come!
