Got this for the 2 year old's birthday. Big sis who is almost nine couldn't wait to play also. 2 year old loves to play cook and feed. 8 year old loves to decorate the cakes. I like that we can decorate too, but not make such a mess in the kitchen. They're also 0 grams of fat per serving.

Purchased this for my niece for her 2nd birthday. She loves it. She received many gifts, but this continues to be one of the most played with six months later.

As I write this review, my 3 year old daughter is once again decorating her cupcakes.
She has spent many hours over the last couple of months playing with this set. Considering she is only 3, hours engaged in any one activity is quite a bit. Its common to see her happily walking around, over mitt on one hand, offering cupcakes to whomever is in the area. As her daddy, we have spent time with her cuddled up to me, each of us decorating our own.
She likes to "take orders" then spend time decorating them. (She always saves the pink for herself no matter how much haggling I try to do with her :).
This is one of the few toys she keeps returning to pretty regularly.
If your child has shown any interest in playing kitchen, they are likely to enjoy this.

My 2 year old received this for her Birthday from a friend of mine, I saved opening it until the day before her party when I was making the cupcakes for our guests. This was a great gift, yet I was not ready for the markers but they take nothing away from the fun of the cupcakes. The cupcake pan, real cupcake liners, and oven mitt add to the fun as well as the candles, the fun of changing out the cupcakes and the toppings. We did have one split, but I have not heard back from Melissa and Doug on what they do to resolve, so I may update post their reply.
Overall, this is one of the best gifts, the kids from 2 to 9 played with this the whole time, it never lost any appeal.

I purchased this item for a 3 year old girl's birthday party. It was a hit! Her and her friends played with this the entire party. Other moms asked where I got it. It really is a wonderful toy. I've already bought another one for another girl's birthday.
